About Us

We are a small-scale croft based tree nursery, based in the Sleat Peninsula of Skye. We produce fruit and native trees that are outside grown on the west coast with no artificial chemicals or inputs. Trees are grown slowly, and come wind and salt tolerant, minimising risk of planting shock. Drumfearn Trees is owned and managed by Phil Knott, who also provides training and consultancy on a range of topics around trees, land management and biodiversity.

Explore what we offer

We specialise in one year old fruit trees, with a focus on apples that will do well in the challenging growing conditions in the north and west of Scotland. We also offer more unusual fruit including Pears, Quince and Medlar, with more varieties added all the time.

Using locally sourced west coast seed and cuttings, we produce a great range of one and two year old trees and shrubs as bare-root, cell-grown or pot grown specimens. These are outside grown using no artificial inputs and are hardy and tolerant of the extremes of soil and climate we face.

Phil provides site visits for farms, crofts and gardens assessing suitability for tree and shrub planting and biodiversity enhancement. Training and consultancy services also available on a range of topics. We also offer tours of our own Wildlife Croft Skye on arrangement.
